Germany's benchmark DAX index held on to its record course on Tuesday, closing near its previous all-time high after a positive trading day, while Fresenius provided tailwind with a raised full-year guidance.

DAX at High Levels – Fresenius Stands Out

On the floor in Frankfurt, the DAX was stable over wide stretches, driven by a friendly mood in the US markets and positive corporate news from the healthcare sector. Fresenius had – as already announced on Monday evening – raised its outlook for the current fiscal year on Tuesday evening, thereby pulling investors onto the buy side. The shares of the medical and hospital group subsequently picked up noticeably and were among the strongest performers in the benchmark index.

Additional tailwind came from the US indices around the Dow Jones Industrial, which ended the trading day with gains after a firm open in New York. This transatlantic optimism carried over to the European markets and helped the DAX defend its record level. Other German blue chips such as Siemens Energy, DHL Group and Vonova also benefited from the overall positive market sentiment.
