Frankfurt am Main, 03 August 2026
Germany's leading index, the Dax, rose to a record high on Monday, buoyed by the hope of peace negotiations in the Middle East.
The Dax climbed to a new peak in early trading, continuing its recent upward movement. The trigger was reports that negotiations announced for Monday were fueling the prospect of a diplomatic solution in the Middle East. Investors reacted to the news with buying, particularly in the previously under-pressure defense and telecommunications stocks.
Among the biggest winners in the leading index, the Rheinmetall share was back, having recently profited strongly from the geopolitical uncertainty. Deutsche Telekom shares also rose significantly. Both stocks were among the most traded of the day and decisively shaped the picture at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
