The DAX showed little movement on Thursday, lingering just below its record high, as investors kept an eye on the US jobs report and a possible shipping deal between Iran and Oman in the Gulf.

The German leading index DAX was largely directionless during Thursday's trading session, posting only minor changes below its recently reached record high. In the market, this wait-and-see stance was attributed primarily to the upcoming US jobs report, which is considered a guiding indicator for US monetary policy.

As market analyst Matt Simpson of StoneX explained, the report is being awaited with particular anticipation, as it could help determine whether markets assign a probability of more or less than 50 percent to a US Federal Reserve interest rate hike in September.
