In the first half of 2026, DB Regio recorded 989 assaults on train conductors, according to its own figures, and Federal Transport Minister Steffen Bilger announced that the federal government would deliberate on higher penalties for such attacks.

DB Regio AG, the regional transport subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, counted a total of 989 assaults on train conductors in the first half of 2026. The company released the figure on Monday in Frankfurt am Main and also pointed to a clustering of certain incidents.

With the publication, the Group noted that attacks, insults and threats against rail employees had been a persistent problem in regional transport for years. The figures refer to all regions in which DB Regio operates trains.
