Colombian striker Jaminton Campaz has decided not to return to Colombia for the time being for security reasons after death threats were made against him during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA.
As reported by the online service "One Football," the 25-year-old forward wants to remain abroad for now. Campaz is under contract with the Argentine club Rosario Central and is part of the Colombian squad for the World Cup finals in the USA.
The Colombian Football Association responded to the incidents with a statement, demanding that "the necessary investigations be advanced as quickly as possible in order to identify, prosecute, and punish those responsible for these incidents." Football must be "a place of togetherness, respect, and hope, but never a stage for hatred, intimidation, or violence," the statement said.
