In Deutsche Bahn's long-distance service, nearly every second train arrived at its destination delayed in July, meaning that punctuality in long-distance service remains at a low level.

What passenger punctuality means

Deutsche Bahn uses the term "passenger punctuality" (Reisendenpünktlichkeit) in its reporting, which measures how many passengers reach their destination on time within a given period. They are incorporated into the so-called passenger punctuality figure. It measures the share of passengers who reached their destination on time within a given period. In July, this figure once again fell significantly short of the group's internal targets.

In recent years, the company had announced that it intended to noticeably improve punctuality in long-distance service. Instead of a turning point, however, the current figures show a persistently high level of delays that passengers feel directly in their everyday lives.
