Deutsche Bahn is planning a financial buffer in the billions for the new Brenner northern approach route from Munich to the Austrian border and expects total costs of around 16 billion euros.

Large Risk Buffer for Price Increases

According to the company, nearly 7.6 billion euros has been earmarked in total for risk and inflation provisions. Added to this are planning and construction costs of 8.57 billion euros. This means the planned buffer is almost as high as the currently estimated construction costs – 16 billion euros altogether, as a spokesperson for Patrick Schnieder (CDU) said in Berlin.
