The German Football Association (DFB) is holding discussions with the leadership of the German Football League (DFL) about a potential bid for the 2038 or 2042 FIFA World Cup, according to information from the German Press Agency.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf has exchanged views with the league's management about the plan, a spokesperson confirmed to the German Press Agency (dpa). Previously, the Bild newspaper had reported on the conversation and a possible bid. The discussions are described as open-ended; no decision for or against a candidacy has been made yet, according to DFB circles.

The talks are taking place at the DFB headquarters in Frankfurt am Main, about two years after the home European Championship in Germany. The content includes the question of whether and when the association should bid to host a tournament for FIFA. Specifically, the World Cup years 2038 and 2042 are being considered.
