The non-food discounter Kodi has filed an application to open insolvency proceedings in self-administration at the Local Court of Halle (Saale); according to management, roughly half of the 150 stores nationwide are facing closure.

Kodi Handels GmbH, headquartered in Oberhausen with its registered corporate seat in Landsberg in Saxony-Anhalt, submitted the application on Monday, as reported first by the "Lebensmittel Zeitung." The court subsequently ordered provisional self-administration. Attorney Lucas Flöther was appointed as provisional custodian to oversee the proceedings. Managing Director Fabian Grund stated that the goal was to secure the company's continued existence: "Die Ausgangslage ist allerdings nicht einfach."
