Dresden, 29 May 2026
Organizers of Dresden's Christopher Street Day (CSD) suffered a legal setback on Thursday when the city's administrative court rejected their urgent application concerning the planned street festival in early June.
The dispute centers on the legal framework for the event. The city of Dresden had given the organizers the option to modify the street festival so that it would be legally recognized as an assembly rather than a commercial event, according to a statement from the organizers.
A Shift to Assembly Law
The organizers quoted the city as saying they were free to "change the modalities of the street festival so that it presents itself to objective third parties as an assembly."
