At the Christopher Street Day in Eberswalde, according to police, at least 1,000 people took to the streets on Saturday under heightened police protection to demonstrate for tolerance and diversity, while a counter-demonstration by the right-wing extremist group "Deutsche Patrioten voran" with around 50 participants took place at the same time.

Course and motto of the CSD

The CSD in Eberswalde took place this year under the motto "Viele Farben – ein Wir" and marched from the train station into the centre of the city northeast of Berlin. A police spokesperson said: "Der Aufzug durch die Stadt verlief friedlich." The organizers spoke of around 1,100 visitors; the police assumed a number in the high three-digit range. A significantly reinforced police presence accompanied the event overall.
