On May 28, 2026, the Dresden Fire Department and the Technical Relief Organization successfully rescued a Belgian Shepherd named Mara from an underground pipe in the Laubegast district of Dresden.
The rescue effort began when Mara's owner reported that the dog had escaped and become stuck in the pipe.
According to the fire department, Mara had wandered approximately 20 meters into the pipe before becoming stuck.

The rescue team used specialized equipment to carefully extract Mara from the pipe.
Mara's owner described the dog as very shy and strongly attached to him.
The owner also expressed gratitude to the rescue team for their efforts, saying 'Großes Kino, was hier heute läuft' ('It's like a big movie, what's happening here today').
