A pregnant cow escaped from a 49-year-old farmer in the district of Freistadt in Upper Austria on the morning of 7 July 2026, wandered across two federal roads into the town of Freistadt and disrupted early-morning commuter traffic before being sedated and transported away.

According to the Upper Austrian State Police Directorate (Landespolizeidirektion Oberösterreich), police patrols were alerted at around 4:40 a.m. after the animal was spotted loose in the locality of Galgenau, part of the Mühlviertel region. Officers found the cow running along the Böhmerwald Straße (B38) and then continuing on to the Leonfeldner Straße (B126).
