Flight operations at Munich Airport were completely suspended for more than an hour on Saturday, 30 May 2026, following a suspected drone sighting reported by two pilots.

Immediate Security Response

A spokesperson for the German Federal Police confirmed that two pilots made suspicious observations at approximately 9:03 a.m., prompting an immediate security response. Both runways were closed, preventing any aircraft from taking off or landing.

The closure was lifted around 10:05 a.m., according to the airport. During the roughly one-hour disruption, 26 incoming flights were diverted to other airports.
