Munich, 15 August 2026

A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 conducted an emergency landing at Munich airport on 15 August 2026 after circling repeatedly over the Erdinger Moos to dump fuel, according to Flightradar24 tracking data.

The aircraft took off from Munich and was tracked climbing into the airspace above the Bavarian capital before altering course and beginning a series of wide turns southeast of the city. According to the flight profile visible on Flightradar24, the wide-body jet executed several circuits above the Erdinger Moos, a flat expanse east of the airport that is routinely used for fuel-dumping and holding patterns before approach.
