Eight people injured after basement fire in Berlin apartment tower

The operation took place in Berlin-Buckow. The apartment tower is located in Ringslebenstraße, where, according to the fire brigade, several basement storage units had caught fire.

Smoke was among the hazards at the scene. How the fire brigade assessed the smoke exposure in the basement rooms and the rest of the building is not documented in the available facts.

Smoke and possible consequential damage

After the fire, the emergency crews' work included inspecting the building and identifying further hazards. The available information does not indicate whether, or to what extent, residents were affected.

The number of injured people makes this a serious residential building fire. An official analysis of the cause is still pending; in particular, it has not been confirmed how the fire started in the basement storage units.

Cause not yet determined

The three available reports are based on information from the fire brigade and news agencies. There are no further confirmed details about the cause of the fire, the condition of the injured individuals, or possible consequential damage.

Further information on rescue operations, the number of people affected, and possible damage to the building structure is expected from the authorities once the work is complete.

The fire in Berlin-Buckow therefore remains an ongoing incident report: what has been confirmed is the location, the affected basement storage units, the fire area of around 100 square metres, eight people injured, and the fire brigade's response.
