Eintracht Frankfurt put in a disastrous dress rehearsal in London on Saturday, losing the friendly against Premier League club FC Brentford 0:7 (0:3).
On their visit to the Brentford Community Stadium, the Hessian Bundesliga side looked overwhelmed in virtually every area of the team. Head coach Dino Toppmöller's side came under pressure early and struggled to find a way out against pressing-intensive English opponents. Frankfurt were already a clear 0:3 down at the break, and the final whistle brought a 0:7 thrashing that once again set off all the warning signs from pre-season.
The dire performance was compounded by the substitution of captain Robin Koch, who had to come off after a collision with a knock. That strips the already thinly staffed defensive unit of another key player ahead of the Bundesliga start. How serious the injury was remained unclear initially.
