Eintracht Frankfurt wins again against Hamburger SV

Hamburger SV had previously described the match as a particular challenge. The Hamburg side was in a good run of form in which they had taken points from important matches. With the defeat in Frankfurt, pressure is now on the Hamburg side to avoid further setbacks in their promotion campaign.

HSV comes under pressure

For Eintracht, the victory over HSV is also significant in the league standings. Following their cup success, HSV was at least for a time a direct rival for the Frankfurt side. The renewed success makes clear that the Hesse-based team currently pose a very high hurdle for HSV.

Eintracht had already eliminated HSV from the cup. At the time, the Frankfurt side defeated Hamburger SV in the decisive match. This latest league victory continues that record against the northern club.

Joti Chatzialexiou's transfer is therefore not merely a personnel announcement, but comes in a phase when Eintracht is enjoying sporting success. The forwards Younes Ebnoutalib and Niko Illicevic, as well as Kevin Trapp, were involved in scoring the Frankfurt goals.

Eintracht connection and personnel

CEO Axel Hellmann said of Chatzialexiou's signing: "It is particularly important to us that he knows the identity of our Eintracht and understands what this club means to the people of Frankfurt and our region." Hellmann added: "He has an outstanding network, extensive experience in developing sporting structures and a clear understanding of the demands of modern professional football."

Another name mentioned is Uwe Seeler. The former Hamburger SV and Germany national team player died on 21 July 2022. At the time, the club statement read: "On 21 July 2022, \"Uns Uwe\" died."

The HSV now enters the decisive phase of the first half of the season. Following their defeat in Frankfurt, the team must earn points in the coming matches to stabilize their position in the standings. Eintracht want to confirm their success against HSV in the remaining league fixtures.
