Cottbus, 11 June 2026

Second-division promoted side Energie Cottbus has signed former Bundesliga professional Leonardo Bittencourt (32) on a free transfer and on a long-term deal, bringing him back to the Lusatia 14 years after his departure.

Contract details and future plans

The midfielder, born in Leipzig, moves from Bundesliga club Werder Bremen to his youth club, where he had already made his professional debut in 2011 under coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz. As the club announced, Bittencourt signed a long-term contract in the Lusatia. The deal is said to remain valid beyond the end of his active career: he is to remain with the club after the end of his active career in "a responsible role," the club said.
