As part of the renewed escalation in the Iran conflict, the nationwide median price for diesel in Austria has risen to 2.009 euros per liter, thereby crossing the symbolic 2-euro mark, according to data from E-Control.
On Wednesday, the median price for diesel was 2.009 euros per liter and for gasoline 1.878 euros, according to E-Control. The day before, diesel had still cost 1.989 euros and gasoline 1.864 euros. The price difference between the two fuel grades has thus widened again within 24 hours, while diesel is approaching the 2.20-euro mark that was reached at the end of March during the previous price peak.
For comparison: in the week before the start of the Iran war in February, the Austria-wide median for gasoline was still 1.52 euros and for diesel 1.57 euros. Since then, prices have risen continuously. At the height of the price rally at the end of March, gasoline cost around 1.9 euros and diesel around 2.2 euros at the median.
