Brussels, 24 August 2026

The European Union has approved another multi-billion package of military support for Ukraine, intended to strengthen the country's defense capability against the Russian war of aggression that has been ongoing since February 2022.

Scope and Background of the Aid Package

The release of the funds followed consultations between the EU Commission, the European Council, and the member states. Brussels is responding to the continued Russian aggression, which has now lasted for four and a half years. The package includes weapons, ammunition, and logistical support.

In addition to financial and military aid, Ukraine is further expanding its international arms cooperation. According to the office of Volodymyr Zelensky on the platform X, Finland and Ukraine have agreed on cooperation in the development and production of unmanned systems. Among other things, a joint venture for unmanned surface drones is planned.
