The European Union declared it would not be intimidated by massive Russian threats and attacks on Kyiv that killed two civilians and wounded 91 others on Monday.

EU Commission spokeswoman Anitta Hipper described the threats as an "inacceptable escalation" in a statement on the online service X. She called on Russia to stop shelling civilians and to agree to a "full and unconditional ceasefire."

The attacks on the Ukrainian capital were part of a wider wave of Russian strikes. In the eastern part of the country, at least one person was killed and 15 others were injured in new air attacks on the Odesa region, according to Ukrainian authorities.

International Condemnation and Diplomatic Warnings

The violence prompted international condemnation. During a visit to India, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio commented on the cycle of attacks. "Every time you see these massive attacks from one side or the other, it is a stark reminder of why this is a terrible war," Rubio said. "It must be ended," he added.
