The VW Group and IG Metall are facing tough negotiations over wages and jobs, while external industry experts are warning of a possible "Detroitization" of German industry.
The Volkswagen Group is facing a profound crisis that, according to industry experts, could extend far beyond the company itself. Group CEO Oliver Blume stated on Monday in the company's intranet that "without changes to labor costs" a "theoretical derivation" of around 50,000 additional jobs worldwide would arise – in addition to the 50,000 jobs that are already slated to be cut in Germany by 2030.
