Eva Schütz, the 52-year-old publisher of the online medium ‘Exxpress’, officially declared her candidacy for the general directorate of Austria’s public broadcaster ORF on Tuesday, promising a wide-ranging reform agenda dubbed ‘ORF 2030’.
Born in Vienna, Schütz has worked as a lawyer, a track and field athlete, and in the cabinet of the ÖVP-led finance ministry under the ÖVP-FPÖ government led by Sebastian Kurz. She also served on the government negotiation team for the justice portfolio and sat on supervisory boards at Volksbank Wien and companies of the ÖBB group.
In a statement released on Tuesday, she announced her intention to stand for the ORF top job, presenting a ‘comprehensive reform agenda under the title ‘ORF 2030’’.
