The Austrian Society for General and Family Medicine (ÖGAM) has warned against an overly strong focus on primary care units (PVZ/PVE) in outpatient care and called for equivalent framework conditions for other organizational forms.
The Austrian Society for General and Family Medicine (ÖGAM) does in principle welcome the announced expansion of primary care units, but does not see them as the only solution for general practitioner care. Expansion in recent years has occurred "almost exclusively through centers – while other, equivalent organizational forms such as single and group practices, and especially primary care networks (PVN), have so far only been implemented at a sluggish pace," according to a statement by the professional society.
