LONDON, 15 July 2026
London's Metropolitan Police arrested a man in his 20s on Tuesday over an alleged social media death threat against Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, and released him on bail the following day.
The Metropolitan Police said the man was held on suspicion of sending threatening communications to a Member of Parliament. A force spokesperson confirmed the arrest and the subsequent release on bail on Wednesday, in line with standard pre-charge procedures in such cases.
According to The Telegraph newspaper, the post in question read: "I am going to shoot you in the head if you win." The message was published on the social media platform X and was directed at Farage during the period surrounding a by-election campaign.
