Police in southwest England are investigating the death of former Conservative minister and Reform UK spokesperson Ann Widdecombe, 78, as murder after she was found dead at her home in Haytor, Devon, with what officers described as "serious injuries."
Discovery and arrest
Police were called to the property in rural Devon shortly after midday on Thursday, where Widdecombe was found dead, according to Devon and Cornwall Police. The force said on Friday that the death was being treated as a murder investigation. A 26-year-old white British man was arrested in Newton Abbot, less than 16 kilometres from Widdecombe's home, and remained in police custody on Friday.
