A 26-year-old quad rider from Klam was struck on the head by a falling chestnut branch and fatally injured on Tuesday evening in the locality of Reitberg in the municipality of Saxen in Upper Austria during a storm.
What happened in Reitberg?
The man was traveling on a quad together with his 21-year-old partner shortly after 10:00 p.m. in the locality of Reitberg in the municipality of Saxen when the fateful accident occurred. According to police, a branch of a chestnut tree standing next to the road broke off during the storm and struck the 26-year-old on the head.
The impact pinned the rider between the falling branch and his vehicle. The 21-year-old partner, who was riding on the quad as a passenger, remained unhurt according to police.
