Fels am Wagram, 21 July 2026

In a residential house fire in Fels am Wagram in the Lower Austrian district of Tulln, the owner of the house lost his life shortly after 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

When the fire broke out from an unknown cause, the house was fully engulfed by flames upon the arrival of emergency responders. According to the operations report, parts of the roof structure had already collapsed by the time the first fire departments reached the scene. A total of 14 fire departments with 140 Florianis were deployed.

Major Operation Under Difficult Conditions

The acute danger of collapse initially prevented the silver helmets from advancing further inside the building. This delayed the search for the missing homeowner, who was presumed to be the only person in the building based on current knowledge. Only after the structural integrity of the roof and walls was secured were emergency responders able to enter the burned-out rooms.
