Austria's Federal Administrative Court (BVwG) has demanded an additional 20 permanent positions in order to efficiently process the growing number of proceedings related to the Common European Asylum System.
Background on the personnel situation
The President of the Federal Administrative Court, Daniela Urban, justified the demand for additional personnel with the persistently heavy burden placed on the judiciary by asylum proceedings. In the course of a statement, Urban explained that a hearing before a high-level commission had been necessary for the selection of new judges. She was "definitively no candidate of any party," Urban stressed in this context.
