Nuremberg, 03 July 2026

Andrea Nahles, Chair of the Board of the Federal Employment Agency, has reported a noticeable decline in open positions for IT professions in Germany and described the labor market in the sector as having become „enger geworden“ (tighter).

Fewer open positions amid rising employment

According to its own figures, the Federal Employment Agency recorded around 13,000 job vacancies for IT professions on its books in 2025. This corresponds to a decline of 22 percent compared to the previous year. The authority spoke of a significantly reduced number of vacancies in an area that had previously been considered nearly saturated.
