The world football association FIFA expects record revenue of around 15 billion US dollars (approximately 13.1 billion euros) for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, according to a report by the British newspaper The Guardian — significantly more than originally expected.

According to The Guardian, the revenue is around four billion dollars above the association's original expectations, which FIFA had previously put at around eleven billion dollars. The newspaper reports that high income from the hospitality sector and ticket sales are primarily responsible for the increase.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino informed the member associations about the result on Saturday, as the report indicates. The association had previously already anticipated significant growth compared to the previous World Cup, as 48 teams will participate for the first time instead of 32.
