The world football association FIFA has deleted more than seven million potentially harmful posts and comments on social media since the start of the ongoing Women's World Championship and reported over 200,000 abusive or intimidating posts.

On the sidelines of the tournament, FIFA announced that the number of deleted hate comments is therefore around 14 times higher than at the 2022 Men's World Championship in Qatar. The world association spoke of a "corresponding measures" line against abusive and intimidating content. The tournament ends on Sunday with the final between Spain and Argentina (9 pm CEST, ZDF and MagentaTV).

According to FIFA figures, more than 200,000 abusive and intimidating posts and comments have been reported since the start of the World Cup. In particularly serious cases, more than 1,000 threats were reported to the responsible authorities. FIFA described the approach as part of its protection for players, teams and fans.
