The finale of the 16th season of the RTL dating show "Die Bachelors" aired on Wednesday evening and delivered more than one surprise: While Bachelor Tim Reitz and his chosen one Vivi remain a couple, Co-Bachelor Sebastian Paul and his finalist Nadja separated shortly after the final rose.

According to the network, the episode ended with two final roses — but only one happy couple. Tim Reitz (35) from Cologne and Vivi (28) from Weingarten had already chosen each other during the final ceremony. Nadja (28) and Sebastian Paul (33) from Düsseldorf also left the show as an official couple at first, but the relationship did not last.

Split after the final rose

At the reunion moderated by Frauke Ludowig, which was filmed several months after the actual shoot, those involved described how the breakup came about. According to their accounts, Nadja ended the relationship after the final rose ceremony because Sebastian's pace had become too fast for her and she had realized he was not the "Richtige" (the right one) for her. Sebastian described the breakup as a "Schlag ins Gesicht" (a slap in the face) and said: "Ich habe mich auf der Reise verletzlich gemacht." Nadja anticipated pushback on social media but emphasized: "Ich werde bestimmt einen Shitstorm bekommen - ist mir in dem Fall egal."
