The financial police uncovered a total of 77 violations during targeted inspections of 85 barbershops in Upper Austria and Salzburg, including missing working time records and illegal employment.
In July 2026, the financial police carried out intensified inspections in the barbershop sector. 39 financial police officers from nine teams, along with nine colleagues from the executive, examined 85 businesses in Upper Austria and Salzburg. In total, they checked 172 employees, including 130 third-country nationals.
Results of the Targeted Inspection
The result: In 15 businesses – nearly every fifth shop inspected – violations were identified. In total, the officers listed 77 offenses. The range extended from missing working time records – in 42 cases, the businesses could not provide any at all – to illegal employment. The industry is subject to ongoing inspections, it was stated, yet violations continue to accumulate.
