The Limburg-Noord Safety Region classifies the situation as stable and manageable following a fire in a Dutch nature area near the border with North Rhine-Westphalia, as spokesperson Erik Thijssen told the German Press Agency.
The fire broke out on Tuesday in a nature area near Venray and kept emergency services on both sides of the border occupied in the hours that followed. Representatives of the Limburg-Noord Safety Region stated on Wednesday that the situation had stabilized to the point where it could be described as manageable. At the same time, they stressed it was too early to give the all-clear.
Erik Thijssen, spokesperson for the Limburg-Noord Safety Region, told the German Press Agency: „The situation is stable and that it is too early to give the all-clear but the situation is manageable.“ In doing so, he described an intermediate situation: the acute strain had eased, but final control had not yet been achieved.
