A forest fire in the Forest of Fontainebleau, located around 50 kilometers south of Paris, prompted a major response from firefighters in the capital region of Île-de-France on Sunday; for the first time, two firefighting aircraft were redeployed from southern France to battle the blaze.

The fire broke out on Sunday and spread rapidly through the famous forested area south of the French capital. According to the fire service, two firefighting aircraft were dispatched for the first time from southern France to the Île-de-France capital region to tackle the flames from the air. The size of the affected area has not been quantified so far.
