A 55-year-old Romanian citizen was struck in the upper body by a tree during woodcutting work in Pfunds in the district of Landeck on Monday morning and died at the scene of the accident from his severe injuries.

As reported by the Tyrol State Police Directorate, the man was engaged in woodcutting work in the forest at around 9:20 a.m. when the consequential accident occurred. For reasons that have not yet been fully clarified, he was struck in the upper body by a tree and subsequently became trapped.

Despite the immediately initiated rescue chain and the initial medical care provided by the crew of the emergency medical helicopter Christophorus 5, the life of the 55-year-old could no longer be saved. He succumbed to his severe injuries directly at the scene of the accident.
