Copenhagen, 25 May 2026

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was hospitalized on Sunday following complications from a previous fall, the Danish palace confirmed.

A CT scan conducted at the hospital revealed a larger hemorrhage in the hip area, the palace said, indicating the fall may have caused more serious internal injury than initially thought.

In a statement, the royal court said: 'Ihrer Majestät gehe es den Umständen entsprechend gut' – Her Majesty is doing well under the circumstances.

Medical staff anticipate she will need to remain hospitalized for several days for monitoring and treatment.

Earlier Heart Episode

Her current hospitalization comes just over a week after she was admitted to a Copenhagen hospital on May 14 with angina pectoris – chest pain triggered by reduced blood flow to the heart.
