A four-year-old boy was struck and injured by a car on a crosswalk in Lauterach in the Bregenz district on Monday at around 4:53 p.m., when a 17-year-old driver overtook a stopped car.
Course of the accident at the crosswalk
According to police, a mother wanted to cross the crosswalk on Lerchenauerstraße at house number 15 together with her two sons, aged four and six, at the time of the accident. A car driver stopped his vehicle in front to allow the family to cross the road.
At the same time, a 17-year-old car driver, who had only held his driver's license for one week, approached in the same direction. Although he had already noticed the stationary vehicle from a considerable distance, he continued driving and overtook it on the left.
