Residents and passers-by expressed their shock at the incident. On the B187 in the Reutte area, there are repeatedly dangerous situations because pedestrians have to cross the road directly at the level of residential buildings and bus stops, locals report.

The case is reminiscent of the long-running debate about safe crossings on federal roads in Tyrol. Traffic planners point out that central islands, speed restrictions and clearly visible pedestrian crossings can significantly reduce the risk for pedestrians.

Police are asking witnesses who observed the accident or can provide information about the driving behavior of the car involved to contact the Reutte police station.

So far, there are no indications of any fault on the part of third parties, but the investigations have not yet been completed. The authorities expressly pointed out that speculation about the cause of the accident would not serve the ongoing investigations.
