St. Pölten, 15 June 2026
The FPÖ Lower Austria has described the new police duty-time model planned from 2027 as a frontal attack on the executive and has launched a sharp attack on Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP).
State party chairman Udo Landbauer and AUF federal chairwoman Irene Eisenhut accused the federal government in St. Pölten on Monday of deliberately seeking to cut costs within the police through the new duty-time model (DZM). "It is a frontal attack on the police officers," said Landbauer. What is being sold as a reform is in truth a slap in the face for everyone who ensures the security of Austrians every day. "Anyone who wants security must strengthen those who ensure security on the streets every day," emphasized the FPÖ state chairman.
