On Saturday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced that Israel’s far-right police minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was banned from entering France, effective immediately.
The ban followed a wave of international condemnation after Ben-Gvir shared a video on social media in which he taunted activists involved in a flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip.
The footage showed several activists being pinned to the ground, prompting outrage among Western governments, who described the imagery as deeply troubling.
Jean-Noel Barrot made the announcement on the platform X, writing: “Ab heute ist Itamar Ben-Gvir die Einreise in französisches Staatsgebiet untersagt.”
