Copenhagen, June 02, 2026

Caretaker Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced the formation of a new four-party center-left coalition late on the evening of June 1, 2026.

The alliance includes Frederiksen's Social Democrats, the Socialist People's Party, the left-liberal Radical Venstre, and the centrist party Moderaterne. The agreement comes almost ten weeks after the March parliamentary election, which saw twelve parties enter the Folketing.

Frederiksen stated that she had already informed King Frederik X about the government formation. The Danish Royal Court confirmed this with a statement: "His Majesty the King has subsequently asked the caretaker Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to form such a government."
