East Tyrolean Felix Gall won the second stage of the Tour of Burgos in northern Spain on Wednesday, thereby taking over the overall lead in the general classification. After 178 kilometers from Merindad de Montija to Balneario de Corconte, he finished eleven seconds ahead of the Italians Giulio Ciccone from Team Lidl and Giulio Pellizzari from Team Red Bull, as well as the previous leader Oscar Onley from Team Netcompany.

The stage ran across the mountainous profile of the northern Spanish meseta and finished at Balneario de Corconte, where Gall had the fastest legs in the sprint of a small breakaway group. With his victory, the Austrian took over the overall lead, as the previous leader Onley dropped to fourth place and thus lost time to the stage winner.
