Briviesca, 07 August 2026
The East Tyrolean professional cyclist Felix Gall won the third stage of the Vuelta a Burgos on Friday and in doing so took over the overall lead of the Spanish stage race, six seconds ahead of Britain's Oscar Onley.
After 168 kilometres from Briviesca to the finish at Lagunas de Neila, Gall prevailed in the sprint of a small leading group and celebrated his first victory since his queen stage triumph at the Tour de France in July 2023. The win had been overdue, said the Decathlon captain at the finish, speaking of a "sehr speziellen Tag" for himself and the team.
With the stage win, Gall also assumed the overall lead of the five-day race. His advantage over second-placed Oscar Onley is six seconds, and over third-placed Matthew Brennan only a few seconds as well. The situation ahead of the final section on Saturday is therefore extremely tight.
