A cruise ship with more than 1,700 people on board was quarantined off Bordeaux after one passenger died and approximately 50 others suffered from gastrointestinal symptoms.

The cruise company Ambassador Cruise Line confirmed that the ship arrived in Bordeaux on May 6 and has been barred from departing due to the illness outbreak. According to the captain, around 50 passengers are affected. Local authorities ordered the quarantine to prevent further spread of the infections.

Media reports indicate that a British passenger in his 90s died. The exact cause of death is currently under investigation, but the gastrointestinal symptoms are suspected to be linked to the outbreak. Health officials are closely monitoring the situation and have dispatched medical personnel on board to care for the sick.
