The German government is allowing up to four additional consular officials from Afghanistan's Taliban government to enter Germany in order to enable the issuance of passports and the verification of identities in connection with deportations.

A spokesperson for the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin stated on Tuesday that up to four additional consular officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan would be permitted to operate in Germany. The increase in personnel was necessary in order to be able to deport more Afghan criminal offenders to their homeland, the spokesperson said. The Federal Interior Ministry had previously already announced that deportations to Afghanistan would be expanded.
