Gmunden, 9 July 2026

The Gmunden municipal council adopted a fundamental resolution on Monday evening with the votes of the ÖVP and FPÖ, accommodating the real estate group Soravia on the major "Seeviertel" project on Lake Traunsee with a modified building rights contract.

In doing so, the city is waiving the penalty due to the delayed start of construction. In addition, for the planned 90 apartments, the mandatory primary residence share is to be reduced from 75 to 25 percent. Soravia had originally committed to completing the hotel no later than an agreed deadline – a deadline the group was unable to meet.

The step is justified by the better saleability of secondary residences. The company stated that it believes in the location and is currently working on the final contractual agreements. This was confirmed by Hans-Peter Weiss, Managing Director of Soravia Real Estate, to the newspaper. He also emphasized that the "Seeviertel" has great potential and will bring value creation and jobs to Gmunden.
