A 30-year-old Austrian woman was seriously injured on Saturday, 4 July 2026, during a high-alpine mountain tour to the Wilde Leck in the Stubai Alps (Ridnaun group) in Tyrol, when a granite slab came loose and pinned her right foot.
Course of the accident
According to police, the female hiker and her 39-year-old companion, both Austrian, began their tour at the Amberger Hütte and intended to ascend to the summit of the Wilde Leck via the East Ridge. The weather that day was said to have been very pleasant. After the two had passed the Sulztalferner, they intended to traverse a moderately steep boulder field toward the East Ridge.
